Rosamund Pike Calls Doom "One of the Worst Films Ever Made"
Rosamund Pike revisited Doom, calling it "one of the worst films ever made" and describing it as "an absolute bomb" and "a catastrophe" on the How to Fail with Elizabeth Day podcast. The sci-fi action horror adaptation of the video game cast Pike as Dr. Samantha "Sam" Grimm opposite Dwayne Johnson as Sgt.
Asher "Sarge" Mahonin and Karl Urban as Reaper. She said she was "utterly ill-equipped" to be an action star after moving from Pride & Prejudice, recalling that in her bonnet she thought she could "certainly go and kill some zombies on Mars." Pike added that the set was dominated by "macho guys" and that guns felt like "a holy relic for the Doom fans," leaving her out of her depth.
The film proved a commercial and critical failure, earning $58 million worldwide and holding an 18% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
