Ryan Coogler's X-Files reboot gets Hulu pilot, Danielle Deadwyler to co-lead

Ryan Coogler's X-Files reboot has been given the greenlight for a pilot at Hulu. Danielle Deadwyler, known for I Saw the TV Glow and The Woman in the Yard, will co-lead.

Coogler will not serve as showrunner; Jennifer Yale will fill that role. The Oscar-nominated director of Sinners will instead write and direct the pilot.

The X-Files isn't the only '90s genre hit getting a 21st century revival at Hulu — Buffy the Vampire Slayer is also returning, with a pilot directed by Hamnet and Eternals helmer Chloé Zhao.
