Ryan Gosling Cracks in SNL's Passing Notes Sketch
Ryan Gosling returned to host Saturday Night Live for a fourth time, and the writers leaned into his tendency to break on camera with a sketch seemingly designed to make the cast crack up. In "Passing Notes," Gosling plays a school principal while Ashley Padilla is a teacher who intercepts notes passed by students and reads them aloud.
A subtitle explains the catch: the contents of the notes were changed since rehearsal, so they are new to Gosling and Padilla. One example: "This happened a few years ago. I went to see Barbie with my sister, and Principal Witt was there. He bought an entire row for himself.
Every time the Ken character came onscreen, he would say, 'Finally, something to look at. If I were still gay, I'd do him.'" Gosling's fits of giggles proved contagious: cast member Marcello Hernández broke into smiles, and Padilla, usually unflappable, began to crumble.
