Ryan Gosling confirmed he has held talks with Marvel about playing Ghost Rider in the MCU. On the Happy Sad Confused podcast, he told host Josh Horowitz, “Some discussions have been had,” and added, “It’s a complicated situation.”

The Project Hail Mary star has repeatedly expressed interest in portraying the fiery antihero but has not yet taken on Johnny Blaze’s motorcycle, leaving fans to wonder whether the fan-casting will come to pass.

Gosling did not elaborate on the complications. The report notes his multi-film deals and scheduling may be factors: he has been promoting Project Hail Mary, recently wrapped filming Star Wars: Starfighter — which he is starring in and executive producing — and is set to star opposite Will Ferrell in Tough Guys, an action-comedy at Amazon MGM Studios with no announced start date for production.

Those commitments may be standing in the way of the casting, and the situation remains unresolved for now.
