Ryan Hurst to play Kratos in Prime’s God of War live-action series
Pcgamer reports that Ryan Hurst has been cast as Kratos in the God of War live-action series for Prime. Hurst is known for his work on Sons of Anarchy and The Walking Dead and voiced Thor in God of War: Ragnarok.
Christopher Judge voices Kratos in the videogames and won the Best Performance award at The Game Awards in 2022; his lengthy acceptance speech later drew attention for a critical remark about Call of Duty. Hurst is the only announced cast member so far, and the production is still relatively early in the process.
The show was first announced in December 2022 but was rebooted a couple years later after the showrunner and producers quit. Sony and Amazon reportedly wanted a different creative direction and hired a new writing team; Ronald Moore is now heading the show, and the source says he is not a gamer. The casting announcement appears in a tweet dated January 14, 2026, and further casting and production details have not been revealed.
