Ryan Reynolds has been one of the biggest names in the industry in recent years, most notably for his record-breaking work with Marvel Studios on Deadpool and Wolverine in 2024. Other comedy and action films such as Free Guy, Spirited, and The Adam Project have also kept him in the spotlight, and fans are waiting to see whether he will appear in Avengers: Doomsday.

One of Reynolds's more mysterious upcoming projects is Animal Friends, a hybrid animation/live-action comedy about a spirited pony and a gruff bear who unite for a cross-country adventure. Industry insider Jeff Sneider has said Warner Bros. Discovery has again delayed the film.

Animal Friends, most recently scheduled to hit theaters on Jun. 5, 2026, is now set for release in Jun. 2027. The movie was first announced in Apr. 2023, with production beginning two months later and filming reportedly concluding in Apr. 2024. The release has been pushed back several times: originally slated for Aug.
