Sacramento Republic have signed midfielder Memo Rodriguez on a two-year free-agent deal. The Texan arrives as the USL side looks to build on a season that saw them finish second in the Western Conference. Rodriguez brings strong MLS experience, having played 136 times for the Houston Dynamo and making 51 appearances for Sporting KC.

He also had stints with LA Galaxy and Austin FC and entered free agency in December. The club continued a busy winter by signing Canadian international Mark-Anthony Kaye earlier this week. Kaye was an MLS All-Star in 2019, won the Supporters' Shield with LAFC that year, and has 42 caps for Canada, last appearing in 2023.

Sacramento were among the favorites to win the USL last year but were upset by Orange County SC on penalties in the first round of the playoffs. Long-time captain Rodrigo Lopez retired at the end of the season and 10 other players left, while general manager Todd Dunivant moved to New York City FC.
