Said El Mala parts ways with agent amid transfer speculation
In the wake of Cologne's creative crisis and rumours about his future, 19-year-old Said El Mala has taken a step that could indicate a summer transfer: he has parted ways with his agent at the Spanish agency Footfeel ISM and will now be represented by his parents, Sabrina and Mohammed.
El Mala will decide his future exclusively with his family, following the example of other prominent players. Florian Wirtz, for instance, is advised by his parents; his father Hans acted as his main contact and even negotiated with Uli Hoeneß about a potential move to Bayern Munich before Wirtz ultimately chose Liverpool.
His contract runs until 2030 after an extension last summer and contains no exit clause, which means Cologne could expect a windfall if he is sold. Relegation from the Bundesliga would, however, drastically worsen the club’s negotiating position. Cologne have not won in five games and have slipped to the bottom of the table, with 24 points from 25 match days — the same tally as Mainz 05 and St.
