Sam Asghari, 32, offered support for ex-wife Britney Spears after her DUI arrest, saying “everybody makes mistakes” and likening the “oppressed” singer to Iranian women during an appearance on "Piers Morgan Uncensored" Wednesday. “Coming from the country of Iran and seeing women being oppressed, that’s something that stuck out to me and was a value I carried my whole entire life,” he said, adding that Spears had “sort of had the same experiences women do in Iran.” He also said, “In a way, not comparing the situation whatsoever, she was also oppressed by many people that took advantage of her and sort of had the same experiences women do in Iran.” Asghari clarified he was not “comparing any experience,” but said, “I’ve seen what she struggles with.” He noted that they were together for seven years and married for one, and that his “respect for her always stands.” Describing himself as a “strong believer” in giving her privacy for a “great recovery,” he added, “If she made a mistake, I really think she’s a strong woman and can come back
