Sam Asghari says 'people make mistakes' after Britney Spears' DUI arrest

Sam Asghari said "people make mistakes" after the pop star's DUI arrest in California Wednesday night. In a Fox News interview Friday he added, "When it comes to people making mistakes, I understand that, but I think everybody deserves privacy and I hope that the press has learned from the past [and] they give her the privacy that she needs." The pair married in June 2022, separated 14 months later amid allegations of infidelity and erratic behavior, and divorced in May 2024.

Asghari has said he "will always have love for her" and told People in August 2025: "Our marriage was very real to me... I was in love with her, will always have love for her, and wish her the best always." Authorities say the 44-year-old was spotted swerving her BMW and was arrested for driving under the influence; she was handcuffed by the California Highway Patrol in Ventura County, taken to a hospital for blood to determine her blood alcohol content and later released from custody.
