Beincrypto reports that on-chain data confirms about 57.553 BTC forfeited from Samourai Wallet co‑founders Keonne Rodriguez and William Lonergan Hill was transferred into Coinbase Prime custody, but the blockchain does not show a completed sale. Several crypto publications on January 5 said the US Department of Justice, via the US Marshals Service, sold roughly 57.55 BTC and that such a sale could conflict with Executive Order 14233, which directs agencies to retain forfeited Bitcoin in the US Strategic Bitcoin Reserve.

On-chain analysis shows the funds moved on November 3, 2025 from a bech32 address tied to the Samourai forfeiture into a Coinbase Prime Deposit address (3Lz5U), were swept into another Coinbase Prime deposit address (1AaFQ), and were consolidated into Coinbase Prime's broader custody cluster; those internal sweeps are standard custody operations and the chain never shows the Bitcoin leaving Coinbase-controlled infrastructure.

Because Bitcoin-to-USD conversions on Coinbase Prime occur off-chain, the blockchain cannot confirm liquidation, proceeds being credited to the USMS, or transfer into Reserve-designated Treasury accounts.
