Ten years after its Netflix debut, Black Mirror's celebrated episode San Junipero will be adapted into a graphic novel by Twisted Comics following a successful Kickstarter campaign.

The episode, the fourth of Season 3 and directed by Owen Harris, imagines a simulated reality where people can relive different years or upload their consciousness to a digital afterlife. It follows Yorkie (Mackenzie Davis) and Kelly (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) and won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Television Movie.

The Kickstarter set a goal of £15,000 (~$20,000 USD) and reached it in less than 48 hours; so far 720 backers have pledged nearly £46,000 (~$61,517 USD).

Twisted Comics had announced plans in 2024 to produce Black Mirror comic adaptations. The episode’s strong reception—92% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes and an IMDb score of 8.5—has been linked to its LGBT+ representation, upbeat love story and its distinctive period-spanning visuals. Black Mirror is available to stream on Netflix.
