Sarah Ferguson’s 2010 email to Jeffrey Epstein reveals vulgar comment about Eugenie
Sarah Ferguson made a vulgar comment about her daughter Princess Eugenie in a 2010 email to Jeffrey Epstein that was released by the U.S. Department of Justice on Jan. 30 as part of a new batch of files tied to Epstein. In an exchange reviewed by PEOPLE from March 2010, Epstein asked Ferguson about taking a trip to New York and she replied, "Not sure yet.
Just waiting for Eugenie to come back from a shagging weekend!!" At the time, Eugenie was 19 and two days shy of her 20th birthday, PEOPLE reported. The email exchange came after Epstein had already been convicted and jailed for a sex crime involving a minor. In June 2008, Epstein pleaded guilty to charges of solicitation of prostitution and solicitation of prostitution with a minor under 18; he was sentenced to 18 months in a minimum-security prison, released in 2009 and later served a house arrest sentence that ended in August 2010.
Other messages in the newly released files reportedly show Ferguson telling Epstein to "just marry me" in January 2010, according to the Daily Mail, and similar language in September 2009. A spokesperson for Ferguson declined to comment to PEOPLE and Buckingham Palace did not immediately respond.
The DOJ releases also include emails and photos involving Prince Andrew; Ghislaine Maxwell is serving a 20-year sentence after her 2021 conviction, and Andrew has denied wrongdoing and stepped back from royal duties in 2019.
