Sarah Michelle Gellar Blames Executive for 'Buffy' Reboot's Cancellation

Sarah Michelle Gellar says she knows who is to blame for Hulu's decision to halt development on Buffy the Vampire Slayer: New Sunnydale. She took the news straight to fans via Instagram on March 14, saying she was "really sad to have to share this" and that Hulu had opted to halt development on the project, but added that she's still hopeful that it might end up elsewhere.

"I was reminded how much I love [Buffy] and how much she means not only to me, but to all of you, and this doesn't change any of that," she insisted. "And I promise, if the apocalypse actually comes... you can still beep me." Gellar learned of New Sunnydale's fate while at South by Southwest, where she was promoting Ready or Not 2: Here I Come — a Fox Searchlight production and therefore produced by the same entertainment conglomerate that was responsible for the show.
