Sarri: 'It's my toughest season since I've been in Serie A'

Lazio beat Milan 1-0 at the Olimpico after Gustav Isaksen's 26th-minute strike, a result that halted Milan's charge for the top spot.

Sarri described an emotional evening, praising the packed stadium and the fans' support. He said he was pleased the team had given supporters something to cheer, while admitting Lazio bore some responsibility for not closing the first half with a bigger lead and for failing to maintain intensity throughout the match.

With six players out and few substitutes on the bench, Sarri called this the most difficult season he has had in Serie A 'for so many reasons' and applauded the squad for continuing to perform despite circumstances that might have prompted surrender.

On the fans' return, he said their presence appeared to be a one-off and he hopes they will reconsider, but added there are many reasons behind the situation and he will not appeal for a regular return because he respects people's decisions.
