Universal will add a new chapter to The Exorcist with a reboot scheduled for March 2027, directed by Mike Flanagan. Flanagan previously adapted Stephen King's Doctor Sleep in 2019 and returned to the franchise after the 2023 film The Exorcist: Believer, which disappointed fans and critics. The studio hopes the reboot offers a fresh take on William Peter Blatty's story, first adapted in 1973.

The cast is slowly coming together and is led by Scarlett Johansson. Universal has cast Sasha Calle in an undisclosed role in Flanagan's film.

Calle recently appeared alongside Matt Damon and Ben Affleck in the Netflix movie The Rip as Desiree "Desi" Lopez Molina, and she is perhaps best known for playing Kara Zor-El/Supergirl in Andy Muschietti's The Flash.
