Saudi Arabia Buys Another 5% of Capcom as Resident Evil Requiem Sells 6 Million
Resident Evil Requiem has become the fastest-selling entry in the horror franchise, reaching 6 million copies in its first couple of weeks. Capcom said it will provide ongoing support and additional game content to keep players engaged, and DLC is already rumored for later this year as the company tees up plans for the series’ 30th anniversary.
At the same time, Saudi Arabia’s Electronic Gaming Development Company, a MiSK foundation subsidiary, purchased an additional 5 percent stake in Capcom. That holding adds to a prior 5 percent stake bought by the Saudi Public Investment Fund, and comes from the same group that recently acquired SNK, placed Cristiano Ronaldo into the new Fatal Fury, and released an AI slop trailer for the fighting game’s second year of seasonal content.
Another Saudi investment arm, Savvy Games Group, has been building a portfolio under former Activision executive Brian Ward, including Scopely and Niantic.
