Savannah Guthrie visited the morning show's studio on Thursday, March 5 to thank colleagues for their support as the search for her mother entered its second month. Her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, was reported missing on February 1 from a home just outside Tucson, Arizona; local and federal authorities have treated the case as a crime and a likely kidnapping.

The FBI released doorbell camera footage on February 10 showing an armed person approaching Nancy's front door wearing a face mask, gloves and a backpack. Guthrie has not been on air since January 30 and stepped back from scheduled coverage of the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics.

Former co-anchor Hoda Kotb has filled in during her absence. The morning show's Instagram post said Guthrie plans to return on air but remains focused on supporting her family and helping bring Nancy home.
