'Scream 7' Box Office Opening Weekend Sets Franchise Record
After countless delays and setbacks, Paramount released Scream 7 on February 27, 2026. The film follows a retired Sidney Prescott living with her family in Pine Grove while her teenage daughter is targeted by new Ghostface killers amid a growing conspiracy that hints original killer Stu Macher survived after a TV landed on him in the first Scream.
Box office tallies show Scream 7 opened domestically with $64.1 million, shattering the franchise record previously held by Scream 6 ($44.4 million). It added $33.1 million overseas for a global total of $97.2 million. The result gave Paramount its first No. 1 release at the box office in a year; the studio's last top film was Novacaine in March 2025.
Early projections had forecast a $40–45 million domestic opening, but Scream 7 far exceeded those expectations.
