Scream 7 has pushed the decades-old horror series past the $1 billion mark at the global box office, delivering the franchise's biggest opening despite poor reviews. The film grossed nearly $64 million in its domestic debut, about $20 million more than the previous record of $44 million set by Scream VI in 2023.

The release also marked Neve Campbell's return after she declined to appear in Scream VI over a salary dispute, and followed controversy when Melissa Barrera was fired after social-media posts many perceived as insensitive. In its second weekend, Scream 7 held off competition from the period sci-fi The Bride!

and claimed the number two spot domestically behind Pixar's Hoppers, despite a steep 74% drop from the previous weekend. With more than $90 million domestically so far, the film is inching toward $150 million worldwide against a reported budget of $45 million and is on track to become the franchise's top-grossing installment.
