Scrubs revival drew a huge premiere but has seen notable ratings drops
Scrubs returned to television on February 25, 2026, reuniting Zach Braff, Donald Faison, Sarah Chalke and Judy Reyes in a continuation of the original series. The new season follows JD and Elliot after their divorce, with JD as chief of medicine and Elliot mentoring a new group of attendees in the simulation lab, while Carla and Turk remain married—Carla working as a nurse and Turk serving as chief of surgery.
The premiere attracted more than 11 million cross-platform viewers in the first five days and, Disney announced, marked ABC’s biggest comedy episode and most-streamed series premiere in over a year. Longtime fans embraced the episode as a “heart-warming homecoming” that preserved the writing, characters and cast chemistry that made the original series beloved.
That nostalgic comfort, however, may be limiting the revival’s staying power.
