Security footage detail may reveal suspect in Nancy Guthrie disappearance
One detail from Nancy Guthrie’s home security footage could give away the suspect’s identity as her disappearance enters day 10. Tracy Walder, a former CIA member and FBI special agent, said the person’s gait is notable and that the suspect’s eyes were exposed despite wearing a mask, adding surprise that the individual did not appear to be using night-vision equipment.
Walder said investigators can build a physical profile from the images — from shoe labels and size to gender, height and weight — and that the video indicates the abduction was highly planned. The person arrived with a backpack and a weapon and appeared to be targeting Nancy rather than committing a theft.
Private investigator Andy Kay noted that ripping off the Nest doorbell may have aided authorities, since cameras often record to servers and, without a subscription, footage can be quickly overwritten; a disconnected camera can leave recoverable data. Kay called the suspected kidnapper a rookie.
