Producer Zainab Azizi said the crew shot on a coconut farm and had to clear all the coconuts for safety, noting they are "one of the leading causes of death in areas like that." She said the team also built stairs to the beach, worked on sound, and cleared footsteps and the trash that washed up on shore.

Director Sam Raimi said the writers wanted the island to serve as "a grounds of revelation," focusing on the characters rather than survival skills. He explained the film explores shifting power dynamics when the office façade is gone and hidden truths about the characters are revealed.

Send Help is described as a gory horror-comedy about two city-types trying to survive on a desert island. It is out in US cinemas now and will be released in the UK on February 5.
