Senegal stripped of Africa Cup title; Morocco awarded the win
The Confederation of African Football's Appeals Committee has ruled that Senegal lose the Africa Cup of Nations final by default, recording the result as a 3-0 victory for the Royal Moroccan Football Federation and awarding the title to Morocco. The match had been contentious: in the final minutes Senegal first protested a non-awarded penalty, then erupted over a VAR decision to award Morocco a spot-kick.
With the exception of Mané, Senegal walked off for over 20 minutes before their captain persuaded the team to return; Brahim Diaz's penalty was saved by Mendy, the game went to extra time and Mané scored what had been the winning goal as Senegal won 1-0 in Morocco.
CAF said it reviewed an appeal lodged immediately after the final and found the result should be overturned.
