Sennheiser has introduced the RS 275 TV Headphones bundle, pairing new HDR 275 over-ear headphones with a BTA1 Auracast transmitter aimed at private TV listening.

The bundle includes the HDR 275 headphones, a BTA1 digital transmitter, a 3.5mm audio cable, an Optical-to-3.5 mm cable, one USB-C-to-USB-C cable, a USB-A-to-USB-C cable, and a headphones stand. The BTA1 behaves as a transmitter when plugged into a TV's Optical or HDMI ARC port, can also connect to laptops, game consoles and stereo systems via 3.5mm, and requires USB-A power, so it is not wireless.

Because the BTA1 supports Auracast, it can transmit to an unlimited number of Auracast-enabled headphones, earbuds, hearing aids and speakers. According to Sennheiser, the BTA1 also supports the LC3 Bluetooth codec, which promises ultra-low latency for synchronized audio and picture compared with the SBC codec. Sennheiser says Auracast compatibility helps avoid brand lock-in and lets users move between shared Auracast playback and private listening with the HDR 275.

According to Sennheiser, the HDR 275 are as light as an everyday remote control, feature breathable cushions, offer 50 hours of playtime and work with the Sennheiser Smart Control Plus app; they support Bluetooth Auracast and Classic. The RS 275 TV Headphones bundle will be available for preorder on Feb. 3 for $300, and the BTA1 transmitter can be bought separately for $130.
