Sergino Dest hamstring scare raises USMNT World Cup concerns
Sergino Dest was forced off during PSV’s 2-1 Eredivisie win over AZ Alkmaar after 57 minutes with what appeared to be a hamstring issue, leaving the 25-year-old to receive immediate medical attention. Dest only returned to international action in September following a gruelling recovery from a torn ACL that kept him sidelined for over a year.
He has been a regular for PSV this season, registering 35 appearances across all competitions with two goals and five assists. He posted on Instagram: "I’m out for a little while to do what I love the most! But one thing for sure this is NOT the end of the season!
I’ll do everything in my power to make sure that i’m coming back asap on the right timing! Thanks for the messages won’t let you guys down! ❤️🙏🏽" Pochettino has used Dest in four matches since taking charge in October 2024 and the coach’s system depends on attack-minded wingbacks; Dest’s value was highlighted by an assist in the 5-1 win over Uruguay.
