Seriously? That's alarming — Kimmich on Bayern clean sheets
FC Bayern are chasing every scoring record, yet have recently looked vulnerable at the back. The club’s all-time high remains 101 goals from the 1971/72 season, and after a 4-0 win over Union Berlin Munich have now scored 97. “It’s actually crazy,” said Joshua Kimmich of the interim tally, which averages 3.59 goals per game.
“I’d actually say it’s because we have outstanding attacking players. But we’ve always had those in recent years too. It’s the team. We can score from every phase of the game. We can score on the counter-attack, from set pieces, and when we’re in possession. We have lots of ways to score goals.” Against Union there were chances for more than four goals: Bayern had 31 shots on goal, more than in any other Bundesliga match this season, and sporting director Christoph Freund said “two or three” more would have been possible.
Lennart Karl and Harry Kane both squandered two clear-cut chances.
