Setback for Prince Harry and Meghan in UK security bid
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could lose a bid to receive taxpayer-funded security from the Home Office amid fears of public backlash. An insider said 'nervousness' lingers among some board members responsible for public safety about approving protection for the former royals while abroad.
The source added that the political side believes 'there is too much political risk,' while police and security chiefs contend 'he absolutely must have it due to the extant threat.' The couple were stripped of their security privileges after they stepped down from royal duties in 2020 and moved to North America.
That lack of protection has kept Harry from traveling to England with Meghan and their two children, Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4.
