Severance Remains a Cornerstone of Apple TV's Sci-Fi Lineup
Apple TV has built a strong sci-fi slate. Most recently the streamer aired Pluribus, created by Vince Gilligan and starring Rhea Seehorn, which became Apple TV’s biggest sci-fi show in history. The platform also premiered new seasons of Foundation and Invasion, featuring Lee Pace and Shamier Anderson, and For All Mankind is set to return with its long-awaited fifth season amid speculation it could be the last.
Constellation, by contrast, was canceled after one season. Among the streamer’s originals, Severance—directed by Ben Stiller and starring Adam Scott—remains the most important entry in the genre. It lost its title as Apple TV’s most-watched sci-fi show to Pluribus last year, but it’s still the series that drew many fans to subscribe to the platform in the first place.
The series follows a group of employees who work on a suspicious floor at Lumon Industries and have chosen to undergo a procedure known as severance, which splits them into two personalities inside and outside the office.
