Shadowstone, the Sunderfolk spinoff from Secret Door and Dreamhaven, has kicked off a public playtest after a surprise reveal at the Future Games Show Spring Showcase. The playtest is available now and will run until the game launches into early access. Players can sample the game in solo or multiplayer matches for up to four people.

Progress made during the playtest will not carry over to the full release, and there is no NDA: "We want to show off Shadowstone to the world, and we’d love your help in showing off what you’ve played," Secret Door said. The game is described as a "tactics roguelike" for one to four players set in the same world as Sunderfolk.

Shadowstone uses a mouse-and-keyboard approach rather than Sunderfolk’s smartphone controllers, and leans into a run-based experience that pares back some RPG elements as players try to escape randomized ruins.
