Shawn Hatosy directed Season 2, Episode 9 of The Pitt and said the show’s almost entirely single-location staging made prep different from other television work. Because he acted in Episode 8 and was on set all day, his off time was on set too, which allowed him to work through blocking and understand where things would sit for the episode.

He emphasized honoring the visual language already established by John Wells and Jojo Coelho, noting that the camera follows the action rather than dictating it. That approach guides how the medical procedures are staged and how the camera captures the emotional impact on the staff.

Hatosy admits he was nervous and leaned on Noah Wyle for advice about juggling acting and directing, especially with two cameras in play.
