She‑Ra and the Princesses of Power to leave Netflix on February 21
Collider reports the 2018 animated series She‑Ra and the Princesses of Power will leave Netflix on February 21. Produced by DreamWorks Animation Television for Netflix, the show is a modern reboot of the 1985 Filmation title She‑Ra: Princess of Power. The reimagining follows Adora (Aimee Carrero), a soldier raised by the Horde under Hordak (Keston John) who transforms into the legendary warrior after finding a magical sword.
The series features a voice cast including A.J. Michalka, Karen Fukuhara, Marcus Scribner and Lorraine Toussaint, holds a 96% critics' score and an 84% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and has been praised for its diverse cast and queer representation. It received a 2019 GLAAD Media Award nomination for Outstanding Kids & Family Programming, a Daytime Emmy nomination at the 46th Daytime Emmy Awards, and a GLAAD win in 2021, tied with First Day.
The removal is part of Netflix’s broader February licensing shake‑up that includes dozens of films and series, among them the Netflix Originals Rebellion, Paris Is Us and The Big Family Cooking Showdown, and titles such as Parasite, Groundhog Day, Mean Girls and The Terminator. Creator ND Stevenson posted on X saying he had known about the removal and that Netflix functioned as an exclusive distributor rather than the underlying rights holder; he wrote, “Years of hard work by many talented crews have ended up without a home,” and said showrunners had no control.
