Taylor Sheridan built a strong reputation with films like Sicario and Hell or High Water, followed by Wind River and the television phenomenon Yellowstone. Most of his projects have been well received, but two entries with his name attached never quite found an audience.

One of those is 2021’s Without Remorse, a Prime Video release positioned as a franchise-starter for Michael B. Jordan. Sheridan was credited as a co-writer alongside Will Staples on the Stefano Sollima-directed picture, which holds a 45% score on Rotten Tomatoes; critics said it can’t fully escape outdated patriotic tropes despite Jordan’s commanding performance.

The other is Sicario: Day of the Soldado, also directed by Sollima. Sheridan has said the studio worried about its commercial prospects.
