Shift Up to expand self-publishing as Stellar Blade sequel remains unannounced

Shift Up has revealed plans to expand its self-publishing capabilities in recent job postings.

The move comes ahead of a planned release window for the Stellar Blade sequel sometime before 2027. Sony published the original Stellar Blade in 2024, but the in-progress follow-up does not yet have a publisher attached.

The studio says it aims to broaden self-publishing to support internally developed titles across consoles and PC, building on the worldwide success of Goddess of Victory: NIKKE and Stellar Blade.

Shift Up last self-published The Reason Why Raeliana Ended up at the Duke's Mansion in 2021. Stellar Blade's PC launch sold one million copies in three days, and the studio previously rewarded employees with free PS5 Pros for their work on the game.
