Shinji Mikami's new studio Unbound lists chocolate fountains and other perks

Shinji Mikami left Tango Gameworks in 2023 and had already started a development studio called Unbound. The company's website has been live for over a year but only recently came to wider attention, and it offers only scant details about what the team is working on.

Among the benefits listed are chocolate brownies made from the leftovers of "a chocolate fountain on Valentine's Day," rice balls for breakfast, an all-day café, and an in‑house bar that serves free booze from 6pm. Mikami hints the visual style of the new title will be "realistic," and says the current goal is to finish this larger project before moving on to multiple smaller ones.

The studio's founding principle is to "put user enjoyment first and foremost in creating rich content," and "we hope to create many original titles and new games." He also formed Kamuy in 2024, though the site does not clarify whether that is a separate studio or an imprint at Unbound.
