Shonda Rhimes Eyes Violet Bridgerton for Next Spin-Off

Bridgerton remains a hit after its fourth season, and Shonda Rhimes said she expects more spin-offs. Back in 2023 she noted, "I think Violet is fascinating," and recently reiterated there will "definitely" be more Bridgerton spin-offs in the future. Violet Bridgerton, played by Ruth Gemmell, has been central to the family drama and spent the first three seasons helping her children find love.

Season four saw her briefly romance Lord Anderson (Daniel Francis) before choosing independence, and that turn in her story is one reason a Violet-focused series is being discussed. A spin-off could mirror Queen Charlotte with a present-day plotline and interwoven flashbacks showing how a young Violet met Edmund Bridgerton, who appeared in season two flashbacks played by Rupert Evans and who died about 10 years before the main series.

Author Julia Quinn also explored Violet’s early life in the novella "Violet in Bloom," from the 2013 collection The Bridgertons: Happily Ever After, which could offer material for a new series.
