Should my husband swap walking for cycling?
Theguardian reports on a domestic disagreement in Berlin between Frida, who prefers to cycle, and her husband Frantz, who likes to walk. Frida says cycling is quicker, more fun and frees up time, while Frantz prefers the slower pace of walking and the chance to notice shops and neighbourhood character.
Frida says she tires of trailing behind Frantz on foot and finds walking monotonous, and she argues a bike helps them discover new trails and get more out of their destination. Frantz responds that Frida is often late, that preparing and lugging a foldable bike adds time, and that he values the journey as much as the arrival.
A jury of Guardian readers offered a range of compromises, including taking turns to walk or cycle and sometimes both using bikes but slowing the pace to explore. Theguardian is inviting readers to vote in an online poll on whether Frantz should get on his bike; the poll closes on Wednesday 11 February at 9am GMT.
