The Simpsons sits in a rare class of TV shows — they're up to 37 seasons — and it's also one of the few series to inspire a genuinely good videogame adaptation. There are a handful of games that have become good shows, but it rarely goes the other way.

Hit & Run is a chuckle-inducing, surprisingly tough action-adventure in which players explore Springfield and race various Simpsons characters. The author admits, "I like it as much as the next guy with inordinate fondness for those early seasons of the animated sitcom."

Executive producer Matt Selman said he had no idea the game would attract a devoted following. "Hit & Run is so interesting … I'm a thousand years old, and when I was in my mid to late 20s, I helped write Hit & Run. I had no idea it would become a cult game, a cult success. Of all the games, the thousands of Simpsons games... that one…"
