Nightdive Studios promised in 2020 to remaster 1998's Sin, but other projects pushed the work aside and a 2023 update warned the release was delayed. Three years of quiet left fans skeptical, yet Sin Reloaded is alive and slated to arrive this year; I went hands-on with the build at the Game Developers Conference and spoke with the team.

The remaster aims to remain faithful to the original boomer shooter, keeping its wise-cracking, macho lead while adding 4K textures, reworked control options, map tweaks, and a wealth of archival material. In the demo I blasted through classic levels—clearing a bank and firing a helicopter chain gun—and could toggle between the Sin Gold art and a smoother remaster with more detailed character portraits during dialogue.

Larry Kuperman, Nightdive's VP of business development, called Sin a personal passion that brings him back to "one of the most fun periods" of games and said it deserves a comeback.
