The Six Best Blondie Albums
Even if you don’t listen to much ‘70s or ‘80s music, you’ve likely encountered Blondie: “Call Me” turned up in a trailer for Supergirl and was written for American Gigolo, and lead singer Debbie Harry has appeared in films such as Videodrome, Union City (which inspired “Union City Blue”), and the 1980s Hairspray.
Harry remains the band’s most recognizable figure, but Blondie is a group effort — with members including Chris Stein, Clem Burke, Jimmy Destri, and Frank Infante — and the lineup has shifted over the years. The band also took a long break from 1982 to 1997 before returning to record again.
There was originally an intention to rank all 11 Blondie albums, but this list focuses on the six that stand out. No Exit (1999) yielded the sizable hit “Maria” but feels a bit bloated at almost an hour.
