Roku TVs can slow down as caches accumulate temporary data, leading to stuttering, buffering and freezes. Here are six quick fixes to clear clutter and improve performance. 1. Unplug the TV. Disconnect the unit, wait a few minutes to let electronics power down, then plug it back in.

This basic step often resolves temporary glitches. 2. Restart via settings. From Home go to Settings, select System, then Power. Choose System Restart and confirm. This is not a factory reset and the TV should restart in about 30 seconds. 3. Restart via the remote. From the Home menu, with Home highlighted, press the Home button five times, press the Up arrow once, press the Rewind button twice, then press the Fast Forward button twice.

Wait for the Roku to restart. 4. Uninstall and reinstall apps. If one app is acting up, highlight it on the Home screen (don’t open it), press the * button and choose Remove Channel. Reinstall the app and set it up again — note this erases the app’s user data and settings. 5. Reset your network connection.

Go to Settings, select System, then Advanced System Settings and choose Network Connection Reset, then Reset Connection. The Roku will reboot and you’ll need to reenter your Wi‑Fi password via Network › Set Up Connection › Wireless. Any devices connected to the Roku may need to be reconnected.
