Skate locks Isle of Grom behind paywall despite earlier promise
Skate's free-to-play early access has had a rough start. It attracted millions of players at launch, slumped to an early "Mixed" rating on Steam, and months of microtransaction and technical issues have not improved player sentiment. A Season 3 preview post revealed a reworked Isle of Grom — an expanded tutorial zone with new spots to skate, including hillbombs, massive gaps, cool transitions, and spillway-style sections.
Access will be staged: March 10 to April 14 only for players who purchased the Skate Pass (1,000 San Van Bucks, roughly $10); April 14 to May 5 open to all during a special multi-week event; after May 5 the area will again require Skate Pass Premium, though players can rent 24-hour access by paying 500 earnable Rip Chips for a Water Taxi day pass.
