Slay the Spire 2 hits 165,423 concurrent Steam players

Slay the Spire 2 launched on Steam Early Access today and quickly reached a peak of 165,423 concurrent players, a number that is still rising. The sequel is already outperforming its predecessor and every other big new release on Steam.

The original Slay the Spire grew at a much slower pace; its all-time concurrent peak is 57,025, set a few months ago when the game dropped to $2.49 during the last Steam sale.

The new release also climbed to the top of Steam's top-sellers chart, unseating Marathon. Steam's top-sellers ranking measures revenue over a nebulously defined timeframe of "now," but the launch numbers make clear the sequel has gotten off to a strong start.
