Slay the Spire 2 slammed on Steam after patch makes game harder
Mega Crit released an update that reworks balance across the game, nerfing popular strategies for nearly every character and buffing several enemies, including the final boss. Less than 24 hours after the change, many players expressed intense anger on Steam. The patch touches cards, UI and artwork, adds a Phobia Mode to replace triggering imagery, and cuts Relic shop prices by 25 gold.
Key gameplay changes include a rework of Prepared for The Silent — it now forces two discards and costs energy instead of drawing and discarding for free — and significant buffs to enemies such as Doormaker, who will now eat every 10th card a player draws while dealing massive damage.
The Regent also saw nerfs affecting common picks like Glow and Charge. Reaction on Steam was swift: nearly 8,000 negative reviews appeared within hours.
