Slay the Spire 2 Faces Steam Review Bombing Over Beta Patch
In the past 24 hours Slay the Spire 2's Steam rating fell from an Overwhelmingly Positive 97-percent on March 19 to a Very Positive 83-percent, a drop of roughly 11,000 reviews out of about 60,000 total. The move followed Mega Crit's announcement of Beta Patch v0.100.0, described as the first big post-launch patch with a large balance pass intended to make infinites harder and to introduce a Phobia Mode with bespoke assets to mitigate various creepy phobia concerns.
The patch is opt-in only via the "public-beta" branch on Steam, and Mega Crit has said beta patches are optional and subject to change. Many of the new negative reviews focus on card nerfs, notably a change to the Silent's Prepared skill. In the beta it has been replaced by Prepare: where Prepared drew two and discarded two at 0 cost, Prepare costs 1, discards two, and grants 2 energy next turn.
The article described Silent as "ridiculously OP" beforehand and "slightly less OP" now.
