Slay the Spire 2: Tips for surviving your first full run
Slay the Spire 2 is noticeably harder than the original, with stronger enemy scaling and a brutal Act 1. Some characters clearly feel easier than others, yet even experienced players find the sequel more punishing in early encounters. Instead of forcing a specific deck in Act 1, let the deck build itself.
Prioritize cards that help immediately — area-of-effect attacks, reliable block, and other early-game tools — then pivot toward a focused archetype as you approach Act 2. A low-cost, effective skill can often outshine a flashy card that only shines much later. Learn each character’s archetypes and how they interact, because most cards gain value through synergy.
For example, the Silent’s Sly and Shiv themes can be combined in creative ways, and mixing archetypes can produce powerful but complex decks. If you prefer to study rather than experiment, resources like Mobalytics or playthroughs from accessible creators can speed up that learning curve.
