Sleepless in Seattle Leaving Prime Video on March 31
Sleepless in Seattle is streaming on Prime Video but is scheduled to leave the service on March 31. Decades after its 1993 release, Nora Ephron’s romantic comedy still reads as a blueprint for the big-hearted studio rom-com.
The film stars Tom Hanks as Sam, a widower whose young son calls into a radio show in the hope of finding his father a new partner. Meg Ryan plays Annie, a Baltimore journalist who becomes unexpectedly drawn to a man she has never met. The cast also includes Ross Malinger as Jonah Baldwin, Bill Pullman as Walter, Rosie O’Donnell as Becky, Rita Wilson as Suzy, Victor Garber as Greg, and Carey Lowell as Maggie.
Roger Ebert praised how the movie fully commits to the idea that love can spark without ever meeting in person, writing that it is "as ephemeral as a talk show, as contrived as the late show, and yet so warm and gentle I smiled the whole way through." Release date: June 24, 1993. Runtime: 105 minutes. Director: Nora Ephron.
