Slot says Wirtz not seriously injured after hobbling out before Forest win
Florian Wirtz was withdrawn from Liverpool's starting XI during the pre-match warm-up at Nottingham Forest after feeling his back, with Curtis Jones brought in to replace him. Manager Arne Slot said he does not believe the injury is "very serious," but added Wirtz "wasn't able to be 100 per cent or even close to 100 per cent." Slot hopes the summer signing will be available again next week, while acknowledging uncertainty over how injuries can develop.
Alexis Mac Allister sealed a 1-0 victory in stoppage time after having a goal ruled out earlier in the match. He described the result as "mixed feelings," saying he loves scoring and winning but that Liverpool did not play well and have "plenty of things we need to improve." Mac Allister also reflected on the disallowed effort and how he believed another chance was coming.
Slot was blunt about the team's first-half showing, calling it "the worst first half that we’ve played," while praising how they defended their box to keep the score level.
