SNL mocks BAFTAs Tourette's incident with sketch targeting canceled celebs
Saturday Night Live addressed the BAFTAs racial slur incident with a skit posted on YouTube that was cut for time from its episode hosted by "Heated Rivalry" star Connor Storrie. The sketch featured impersonations of celebrities blaming Tourette’s syndrome for past behavior, taking aim at Mel Gibson, Jill Zarin, J.K.
Rowling, Armie Hammer, Bill Cosby, Louis C.K. and Kanye West. The skit opened, "This week at the BAFTA Awards, the crowd was shocked as several offensive words were shouted from the crowd." Andrew Dismukes, in an impression of Mel Gibson, said, "I’m Mel Gibson, and as I probably should have pointed out decades ago, I too, suffer from Tourette’s, which explains a lot of the things I’ve said or yelled through the years.
Am I proud of what I’ve said? No. But I’m very proud for you to know that it was because of Tourette’s.
