The Oscars "In Memoriam" segment left out several notable names, but Geoff Keighley was especially moved by the omission of his father, David Keighley. David was an IMAX pioneer, the company’s first-ever Chief Quality Officer, and oversaw post-production for more than 500 IMAX films.

Keighley said he tagged Academy members after the broadcast and later shared that AMPAS/Oscar CEO Bill Kramer seemingly blocked him on Instagram. "Getting blocked on Instagram by the CEO of the Academy was a childish and unprofessional response to a very sincere expression of grief and disappointment," he said, adding that he and his mother, who is also a voting member of the Academy, were watching the segment and found the exclusion heartbreaking.

David Keighley, an Academy member for over four decades, died last September at 77 after a battle with cancer and was praised by filmmakers including Christopher Nolan, James Cameron, Denis Villeneuve and Francis Ford Coppola.
